The photo for the book cover is a picture that I had taken in Asheville, North Carolina. The photo was modified by adding different layers to create a bright unrealistic photo. The photo inspired me to use the photo for a book cover for O. Henry’s poem “The Road to Destiny”. O. Henry spent time in Asheville, North Carolina, where he met his second wife. He is now buried in Riverside Cemetery in Asheville.
He wrote many short stories in his time; his most famous being “The Gift of the Magi.” The short story “The Ransom of Red Chief” was made into a TV movie in 1959. He also wrote “Road of Destiny,” “The Lonesome Road” and “The Roads We Take.”
